Upcoming Performance: Dance With Us in March

Come Boogie Down With Us At

The First Annual “Dance Night at the Depot”

Dance Night at the Depot, Saturday March 14, 2015

It’s been a cold winter. A little ice. And then some snow. And then some more snow. Got cabin fever? Need to get out of the house and have a good time? Wanna cut the rug?  Shake it up, baby?

Why not dust off those dancing shoes, grab your partner, and come shake your groove thing with us at the Allen Heritage Center & Train Depot at 7pm on Saturday night, March 14th? We’ll be joining Jeannie Clark Fisher for some toe-tapping tunes. Get out on the floor and show everyone your moves, or just be a wallflower and enjoy the music.

Suggested donation for admission is $5. After you’ve busted some major moves and tripped the lights fantastic, splurge on a dessert or two. And don’t go home empty handed; our album “Happy Hour” will be available for purchase.

February means our annual trip to Grand Prairie to audition for the National Anthem at Lone Star Park. The cameras caught us and some other local acts as we all did our best rendition, vying for a spot to sing The Star Spangled Banner at the horse races.

Performing at Lone Star Park has become a Fine Spirits tradition in recent years. Stay tuned to find out if and when we’ll be doing the honors this year!

It’s that time of year again. Snow balls and sleigh bells. Carols and hot cocoa. Rushing around a crowded shopping mall looking for the perfect prezzie.

Why not take a break and join us at the Allen Heritage Center & Train Depot at 7pm on Friday night, December 12, or at 2pm, Saturday afternoon, December 13th? We’ll be crooning some holiday tunes at the Cocoa, Cookies, and Carols Christmas Variety Show, presented by Note-ably North Texas Chorus. They’re the Allen, Tx chapter of The Sweet Adelines International, the female barbershop association.

Donation is requested in lieu of admission. And don’t worry about missing out on the mall: We’ll have our CD “Happy Hour” available to buy so you can stuff all your stockings in style this year.

‘Tis The Season At Starbucks

Fine Spirits performed at Starbucks in McKinney, Saturday, Dec 6, 2014

Fine Spirits performed at Starbucks in McKinney, Saturday, Dec 6, 2014

We got downright jolly this morning at the Starbucks at Eldorado and Hardin in McKinney, singing some Christmas tunes as the holiday shoppers came in for their lattes and frappucinos. We jingled some bells for Ole Saint Nick and heard some angels sweetly singly on high, all in four-part harmony.

If you missed us, be sure to catch us next week as we fa-la-la-lah-lahh (and possibly d-boww boww boww) at the “Cocoa, Cookies, and Carols” Christmas Variety Show presented by Note-ably North Texas Chorus. Our album Happy Hour will be available for sale at the show!

If you live in McKinney and get the McKinney Courier-Gazette, you may have noticed some familiar faces in the paper when you read the morning news on Sunday. Fine Spirits made the front page! Our upcoming album release party on June 5th shared top billing with the newly proposed MISD budget. Students will be getting new Mac laptops, and we are throwing a party at Cafe Malaga.

The reporter, Chris Beattie, hung out with us at one of our rehearsals in Carl’s garage, and did a wonderful write-up about our group. On the paper’s website, Chris also included a video of us practicing the song “With A Little Help From My Friends.”

Click on the screenshot below to see the video, and then come out to join the party on June 5th.

Lone Star Park News Spot

What a beautiful day to make our annual trip down to Grand Prairie to audition to sing our National Anthem at Lone Star Park. In the past we were asked to sing on opening day for the Spring racing season.  We hope to get selected again.  It is a fun place to be on race day, with all the horses and hubbub.

While we were warming up in the uncommonly quiet courtyard area, a newsman smiled and said we “need more practice” and that we “better sing it again”.  They came over and set their cameras in front of us to sing once more.  With our warm up complete, Carl answered a few questions about us and we went in to our audition.

We all agreed that the 12 year old singer that went ahead of us (Liam), has a nice set of pipes.  A big sound from a small body.

We will let you know if we get selected to sing.

We sang our new arrangement of ‘The Star Spangled Banner” for the Allen Americans at the Allen Events Center. Our rendition was well received considering the compliments and the fact that none of us got checked into the boards as we shuffled off the ice.

The Allen Americans beat The St. Charles Chill 3-1.  It’s a great venue and a well run & entertaining event.
